Permanent hair removal
How does laser hair removal work with a high-performance laser?
The laser treatment targets the hair root directly. Through targeted light energy, the hair root including the hair papilla is disabled, permanently stopping hair growth.
How does hair growth work – and why does the laser act against it?
Every hair grows in a hair follicle. The hair papilla at the bottom supplies it with nutrients. During laser hair removal, the melanin in the hair absorbs the laser light and conducts the heat to the root, deactivating the follicle. A high-performance laser like the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus does this safely and precisely, leaving surrounding skin tissue undamaged.
How many sessions are required for permanent hair removal?
Generally, 6 to 8 sessions are needed because hair grows in phases, and the laser only disables follicles in the active growth phase. Sessions are spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart depending on the body region.
What does permanent laser hair removal feel like?
The treatment is well-tolerated. Thanks to the GentleMax Pro Plus's integrated Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD), a brief cooling spray is applied before each laser pulse, making the treatment much more comfortable than waxing or epilation.
Which hair & skin types is the GentleMax Pro Plus treatment suitable for?
By combining two wavelengths (755 nm Alexandrit and 1064 nm Nd:YAG), almost all skin and hair types can be treated safely and effectively – from very light to dark skin tones.
What is the difference between laser treatment and methods like diode, IPL, waxing, shaving?
Shaving only cuts surface hair; waxing pulls hair out but keeps the root intact. IPL uses broad light and needs more sessions. A medical Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser like the GentleMax Pro Plus targets and deactivates hair roots permanently with maximum skin protection via active cooling.
When will I see first results?
First results are visible within 14 days of the first session, as many hairs stop growing or fall out naturally. Hair density decreases continuously with each treatment.
What is the exact difference between professional laser hair removal and home IPL devices?
Home IPL devices use broad, scattered light with lower energy to temporarily put hair roots into a resting phase, requiring continuous and frequent use. In contrast, our medical-grade high-performance laser, the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus, uses highly concentrated, focused light (Alexandrite 755 nm / Nd:YAG 1064 nm) with high energy. It penetrates deep enough to permanently disable the hair root and hair papilla, providing true long-lasting results in significantly fewer sessions with maximum safety and comfort.
Does health insurance cover the cost of permanent hair removal?
Generally, aesthetic hair removal treatments are out-of-pocket expenses. However, health insurance companies (both private and public) may cover the costs in medically indicated cases. These include abnormal hair growth (such as hirsutism, e.g., in PCOS), severe inflammatory skin conditions (such as folliculitis/razor burn), or medically necessary gender-affirming treatments. Please always clarify with your health insurance provider beforehand whether they will cover the treatment. We are happy to provide you with a professional cost estimate.
Skin rejuvenation
How does laser skin rejuvenation with the GentleMax Pro Plus work?
Laser pulses penetrate deep into the dermis to warm the tissue in a controlled manner. This stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin, improving firmness, smoothing wrinkles, and refining pores without damaging the skin surface.
Which skin problems is laser skin rejuvenation suitable for?
It is ideal for treating fine lines, wrinkles, pigment spots, sun damage, redness/couperose, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and acne scars.
Are there side effects or downtime after skin rejuvenation?
There is no actual downtime; you can resume your daily routine immediately. Slight redness or a mild warm sensation right after the treatment is normal and resolves quickly.
How many sessions are necessary to achieve visible results?
The skin looks fresher after just the first treatment. For optimal, long-lasting results, we recommend 3 to 5 sessions spaced several weeks apart.
How long do the results of laser skin rejuvenation last?
Results last for several months to years as collagen production is re-stimulated. Regular maintenance treatments (1-2 times a year) help maintain the refined skin texture.
What is the difference compared to treatments with Botox or fillers?
Botox relaxes facial muscles to target expression lines; fillers restore lost volume. Laser rejuvenation is non-invasive, improving overall skin quality, refining pores, and reducing spots or redness from within.
Can skin rejuvenation also be treated on the whole body?
Yes – laser skin rejuvenation with the GentleMax Pro Plus is not only suitable for the face. It can generally be performed on almost all body areas where the skin is affected by sun damage, pigment spots, redness, uneven skin texture, or loss of elasticity.
