Legs · MunichSmooth legs,
without the daily shave.
Legs are the largest area we treat and the one that gives back the most time in everyday life. You can have the whole leg treated or just one section. We treat in Grünwald on the southern edge of Munich, and Magdalena Graml treats you herself.
Why legs are worth it
Hardly any area is shaved as often as the legs, and hardly any shows the result as quickly. Stubble is back within a day or two, and around the knee and the back of the knee spots are easy to miss. On the shin the skin sits close to the bone, which makes shaving there especially unpleasant.
The laser works at the hair root. The pigment in the hair takes up the light and passes the heat downwards. Leg hair is usually dark enough to respond well, even though it is finer than underarm hair.
Whole legs or one section
There are four usual part areas: lower legs, upper legs, knees and feet including toes. They can be treated separately or together. Many people start with the lower legs because they are visible most often and add the upper legs later. Where the treated surface ends is agreed beforehand, so no visible step appears.
We treat the kneecap more carefully than the surface next to it. The skin lies directly on the bone there and reacts more sensitively.
How the treatment works
First the free trial treatment on one spot. Afterwards you know what a pulse feels like, and we know which of the two wavelengths of our device suits your skin.
On the legs we work lane by lane. Before every pulse a burst of cold protects the skin. As a rule 6 to 8 sessions are needed, 4 to 8 weeks apart. The interval depends on the body region and on how quickly the hair grows back. Only hair that is actively growing is reached, which is why the sessions repeat.
About two weeks after the first session many treated hairs fall out. With each session what is left becomes thinner.
Before and after a session
Shave before the appointment. The laser needs the root in the skin, so waxing or epilating beforehand leads nowhere.
How long to leave out wax, plucking, sun and self tanner beforehand depends on your skin and on the season. Tanned skin absorbs a lot of light itself, so we look at it before every session. You do not get a list of prohibitions, you get advice that fits you.
After the session the skin is briefly irritated, often slightly red, and that usually settles within a few hours. Whether to wait a few days with sauna, swimming pool, sport or sun is something Magdalena tells you afterwards, depending on how your skin reacted. You may shave between appointments at any time.
Who it suits, and where the limit is
With two wavelengths, 755 nanometre alexandrite and 1064 nanometre Nd:YAG, almost all skin and hair types can be treated. For darker skin tones we use the longer wavelength, because the skin absorbs less of it.
White, grey and very light blond hairs contain no melanin and cannot be treated. We do not laser over tattoos, and prominent pigmented moles are covered. During pregnancy and breastfeeding we postpone treatment. Medication that makes the skin sensitive to light belongs in the conversation beforehand.
Frequently asked questions about legs
Can I have only the lower legs treated?
Yes. Lower legs, upper legs, knees and feet can be treated separately. We agree beforehand where the treated surface ends so the transition does not show.
How many sessions do legs need?
As a rule 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 8 weeks apart. After the free trial treatment we tell you what to expect for your hair.
Does it work on tanned skin?
Fresh tan is a reason to wait or to use the longer wavelength. We look at the skin before every session and decide then. Safety comes before the appointment.
Can I exercise after a session?
That depends on how your skin reacted. Heat and friction make redness last longer, so many people wait a day or two with sauna, swimming pool and hard training. What makes sense for you we tell you right after the session. A walk is always fine.
Where do you treat legs?
In Grünwald near Munich, Südliche Münchner Straße 46. Tram 25 runs without changes from Max-Weber-Platz through Giesing and Harlaching to the stop “Grünwald, Ludwig-Thoma-Straße”, and there are two customer parking spaces in front of the building. Details on Contact and directions.
What your treatment includes and what it costs is something we settle after the trial treatment. What the price depends on is explained on the page Prices.
